FINAL PRESENTATIONS


In the last six lessons we, the group of primary education, and the group of pre-primary education met in the same class to do our final presentations. Our professors had this great idea and I agree with this idea bacause both groups can learn from each other. All these lessons last one hour, in the first half an hour a group of primary education develop their presentation and in the second half the group of pre-primary make their.

I enjoy a lot all the presentations, in general I think that everyone has done a great job, the theorical parts were very well presented and expresed; and the exercises were very practical and original.

It has to be emphasized that pre-primary education groups used more resources and their activities were more like games than the primary ones; and I think that this is quite normal.

In conclusion I have to say that this presentations have been very useful to know more about how we can work in class and we could see very original and amusement activities

LESSON 19: 19/10/2015

At the beginning of the class the professor gave us a shit of paper where was a list of things that a teacher must be able to do, and we saw that we are able to do all those things.
Then the teacher showed us some web sites where we can create forms, presentations or storytellings. To finish the class she showed us some examples of all of these tools.

Is very important for us to can use the internet properly because there are a lot of different web sites where we can create very good activities which can be useful in our classes.

LESSON 18: 15/10/2015


Today we continued with the songs, the professor taught us songs which can be used in pre-primary education or in the first years of primary. Later he showed us a web page where we can listen to songs and make exercises like fill in the gaps at the same time. When we finished we have seen the chants, which are like little songs which have always the same structure and they are very repetitive, after the explanation in groups of three we had to create a chant and said it in front of the class.
A the end of the class we saw a video about digital competences and subcompetences.

LESSON 17: 14/10/2015


In this class, we have seen the portfolio which is a very interesting tool to teach a foreign launguage to our children. The portfolio has three different parts: Dossier, passport and biography. When the professor finished her explanation she showed us differents cains of portfolios that we can use with our children.
At the end of the class she taught us a children´s song, to teach a song to our children in very important the repetition, the entonation and make gestures to remember the lyrics of the song

I really liked the idea of using the portfolio to teach foreigns languages. I have never heard any activity similar to this one and I think that it can be very useful.

LESSON 16: 13/10/2015


We started this class with a review of phonetic, and we did phonetic transcriptions. Later, the professor taught some useful tools which are tongue twisters and rhymes. We saw some examples of tongue twisters and rhymes and we saw how can we use these tools in class in order to teach english to our children.

As I said before doing exercises with songs or rhymes are very useful to teach english because children can learn and have time at the same time.

LESSON 15: 8/10/2015


The class was divided in groups of 5 or 6 people and today all the groups have made a presentation about foreign language teaching. One by one each group developed a method that the had chosen, in these presentations the groups had to explain the characteristics of the method, the advantages and disadvantages and present one or two activities which developes the method they are talking about.
We made the presentation about the communicative language teaching.

This was a very interesting class where we could learn more about the foreign language teaching and we could see some very interesting activities that our classmates did.

LESSON 14: 6/10/2015

In this class, most of the people in class were attending a CLIL course so we didn´t see anything new.

First we have seen some storytellings and then, in groups, we had to made characters in a paper and create a storytelling aboud Little Red Riding Hood. When we created the storytelling we had to represent our new storytelling in front of the class.

At the end of the class we did some exercises with a song called Another day in paradise by Phil Collins. The professor gave us a shit of paper with the lyrics of the song but with missing words, so we had to fill the gaps.

In my opinion songs are perfect to learn a foreign language and apart from learn children can have fun.

LESSON 13: 5/10/2015


In this lesson we have seen the Common European Framework of Reference. The professor told us the objectives, the importance that this framework has for teachers and some characteristics.

Just like the other lessons where we saw laws and rules, this one was really boring, but our professor Maribel made a great effort to encourage us to follow the class. I think that this is a very important talent that a teacher must have. We have to be able to keep our children´s attention.

LESSON 12: 1/10/2015


In this lesson, we have continued with phonetics. Then we have to create a limericks and we have shared them with the rest of the class. Later the professor told us what a storytelling is.

Finally,  we have done a role play. We divided the class in groups and the professor distributed some roles to us, we had time to prepare our role play and at the end of the class we had to represent our role play in front of the class.


Limericks and story telling are very goods tools to learn English bacause children can learn while they have fun. Role play is good too, and I think that is a very good exercise to help us to speak fluently.

LESSON 11: 30/09/2015


We had this class just after choose the school where we will be during our teaching practices, so the professor spent some time to ask all of us about the school we had chosen. Then, she introduced a new topic in the forum about the importance of knowing the rules in education.
Finally in groups of three we had to answer some questions related with education that the professor asked to us.

As I said before is very important to know the rules of education because these rules are the bases of the education and we have to know these rules to can do our work in a good way

LESSON 10: 29/09/2015


In this class we have continued with phonetic. The proffesor has taught us how to pronounce all the sounds and how to transcript them. When we finished the explanation we did some words trancriptions. Finally, to end the class, he taught us a very good tool to teach english, which are the limericks, limericks are nonsense rhymes.

I have never studied all the phonetic that we saw in this class, so for me this class was really interesting. Apart from this I liked this lesson because of the limericks, I think that rhymes are a very good way to learn the pronounciation of the words.

LESSON 9: 28/09/2015


In this lesson we have seen in the Royal Decree the Curriculum of Primary Education. The professor has been speaking about the new organization of primary education, the teacher’s role and the teaching-learning competence. Later we have seen the Decree of the Curriculum of Castilla.

The lessons like this one where we only speak about laws are really boring but as I said before is really important for us to know all these laws and rules because are the bases of the education in our country and if we don´t know the laws we won´t be able to do our work properly.

LESSON 8: 24/09/2015


Today, we have finished the explanation of the methodology used to learn a foreign language. In this lesson we have learnt the Task based teaching, the TPR (Total physical response) or Multisensory learning, and the Natural approach. In order to teach us these methods, the professor explained us the characteristics, the objectives, advantages, disadvantages and he finally show us some videos with examples the methods.
When we finished with the methodology we started to learn the phonetics, the english phonetic is the most difficult part of English to me because I have never worked it in class, and I think that that is very important for a teacher to know how to pronounce the words properly because if we pronounce bad a word in front of a children class, all the children will pronounce bad that word.

LESSON 7: 23/09/2015


In this lesson we have done an exercise about the principles of the Organic Law of Education and we have been talking about the spanish law of education which is the LOMCE, we saw the differents characteristics of this law and the differences between this law and the old one.

It is very hard and boring to study the laws but I know that is necessary for us to know all the characteristics and the objectives of the education law.

LESSON 6: 22/09/2015


In this lesson we carried with the explanation about the methodologies used in education to teach a foreign language. We didn´t have enough time to see all the methodologies properly so the explanation in this class was faster than in the las one. The methods that we learnt were the Oral Approach and Situational Language Teaching, the Audio-lingual Method, the Communicative Language Teaching, the Suggestopedia, the Silent Way and the CLIL. 


The professor explained us the objectives, the characteristics and the advantages and disadvantages of all these methods and we could see some videos where we could see examples of these methods

LESSON 5: 21/09/2015


In this class we have learnt to use the forum and the chat of Moodle. In order to learn how to use it we had to participate in both of them.
These are two very useful tools for us because we can communicate with the teacher and the classmates without the need to be in class, so we can ask some doubts through these tools.

When we finished with these tools we have talked about the idea that every time that we have a change in the gobernment we have a change in the education. To talk about this idea, we have divided in groups and we have told about this.
In our group we have come to the conclusion that education should be apart from politics because is not good for anyone that every four years the education laws change.

LESSON 4: 17/09/2015


In this lesson we have learnt two differents methods to teach a foreign language. The first method is the Grammar Translation Method, and the second one is the Direct Method,

In order to teach this two differents methods, the professor explained the method, then in pairs or in groups or three we had to talk about the advanages and disadvantages of the methodsand when we finish one person of the group has to explain it to the rest of the class; and finally we have seen some videos where we could see examples of both methodologies.

As teachers is very important for us to know all the methodologies in order to use the best one depending on the student´s characteristics or the topic we are teaching.

LESSON 3: 16/09/2015


In this class we have seen the E-guide, its competences and objectives. Then we have told about the idea that education can change the world, and of course, all the class agreed that yes the world can change with education. Children are the future and they spend a lot of their time in the school so we will be a great influence on them and we can teach them values so that they could be good citizens in the future.

LESSON 2: 15/09/2015


In this second class we have met the teacher of methodology Juan Antonio. As we didn´t know the teacher and he didn´t know us, in this class we did the same than the last class, so we introduce ourselves on front of the class.

In the second part of the class, in pairs or in groups of three we have said the best and the worst things that we could remember about our english classes in primary education, and we have to give some solutions for some problems that the teacher said to us.

Apart from know my classmates in this class I have realized that, in general, we have to practice a lot the english speaking in order to improve our fluency.

LESSON 1: 14/09/2015


This subject is divided into two parts and we have a different teacher for each part, the first one is about laws of education, the teacher is Maribel and we will have these classes on monday and wednesday; the second part is about methodology, the teacher is Juan Antonio and we will have these classes on tuesday and friday.


In this first lesson with Maribel what we have done is to introduce all of us to the rest of the class, we had stand in front of the class and say some important things about our lives like our name, where do we live or if we have been abroad any time.

In my opinion this is an activity that should be done at the beginning of every course, because with this activity we can know all our partners and we can learn how to speak in front of a class in english and start to lose the shame we have because this is something that we will do every day in our work.

Hello everybody!!

Welcome to the portfolio of the Javier Corona Gómez, student of Teaching at the University of Toledo. In this blog I will write the most important things about the subject called "Metodología Práctica de la lengua inglesa".

In this portfolio I will summarize what we do everyday in class and I will write what I have learnt in the class and I will give my personal opinion about the utility of what I  have learnt
